By the waterfall, Louisa is settled upon a rock beside the waterfall pool. She watches the cascade of water with a faraway, reminiscent expression.

Quiet walks in from with south, head close to the ground as she slides down the worn edge of the valley into the caern proper. It takes only a few moments with her nose to orient on the only person awake in the caern, and she braves the chilly, stinging air near the falling water.

Louisa continues her reverie, her chin resting in her palm, her breaths slow and even and leaving small puffs in the chilly air.

Quiet's cold nose pokes Louisa gently in the back. The yellow wolf's soft whine lets Louisa know who it is before she even turns around.

Louisa turns slowly, her smile already growing as she catches sight of Quiet. "Hi.." she says softly, her tone pleased and almost .. grateful. She slides to the edge of the rock and wraps her arms around the wolf's neck in a prolonged hug, her breath sighing against Quiet's fur as she does so. Then, moving back, she murmurs, gravely, "It's good to see you."

Quiet nuzzles Louisa's cool skin where her neck disappears into her clothing. It is good that you got back safely.

Louisa smiles -- a little ticklish despite the cold. She buries her fingers in her elder's fur and pets at her soft under-fur. "You, too," the cliath notes. "How did things turn out?" She draws back a little to look into the wolf's eyes.

Quiet says they went as smoothly as could be expected, considering. We rescued a trapped stranger along the way, and she is here deciding what path she wishes to run next. The yellow wolf slides her eyes to the right as she adds, After going through the gate, we could tell that Haze was gone. I did not notice much of the caerns that we passed though to get home.

Louisa considers her elder quietly. "Were you successful?"

Quiet says that we were. ~Jade~ was pleased with us. She looks back into the younger Gaian's eyes. I wish that he had not stayed behind to watch our territory.

Louisa tilts her head, not entirely following Quiet's words. "Who's Jade?"

Quiet says that ~Jade~ is the snake you saw, that flies. Our totem.

Louisa nods her head. "Why do you wish that?"

Quiet looks surprised. She finally says that the land may have been damaged if he had not been here. It is unknown if he prevented any crime against our territory in his struggle. If he had been with us, though, he would not have fallen alone to an unknown foe.

Louisa nods her head and thinks on that for awhile. Still touching her elder unconsciously she asks, "What is on your mind now, Quiet-rhya?"

Quiet says that the cub Speaks-Straight must be nearly ready to go on her rite, but she has no other cubs of the tribe here.

Louisa finally pulls her hands from Quiet's fur, the almost hungry shadows to her gaze retreating as she watches the wolf. "Will she have to wait, or will she go alone?"

Quiet says that she will probably go alone, or with one from another tribe. There is not even another cub getting ready. As Louisa draws back, Quiet follows the movement by leaning companionably on the young cliath.

Another smile blooms on Lou's face as Quiet maintains the contact and she takes a moment to bury her face against the fur on the side of Quiet's neck. "If anything," she murmurs, muffled, ".. I miss being a cub because then I was selfish with your time and attention."

Quiet's ears flick forward and she again nuzzles Louisa. You can still be so, you know. I will always be busy with some duties, but I take time for those I care about.
