The Suburban, soon after dusk, zips into the underground parking garage located near Ashley's townhouse. Ringing the doorbell soon produces Ashley, a wisp of hair escaping a bit wildly. "Oh, hello," she says, with a warm smile, "You must be Ms. Wyatt and..." She trails off, looking faintly bemused. "Oh, yes. Ms. Blake and Mr. Van Traelin. Do pardon me, I've had something of a day. Please, come in."

Scott smiles a warm but reserved smile at the older woman, one corner of his mouth tugging upwards lopsidedly. His eyes flicker about the room in a show of somewhat projected nervousness which he reins in before glancing back to Andrea.

Andrea ducks her head in a polite nod. Her smile is warmer, offsetting some of the strangeness in her black eyes. The theurge's clothing has been exchanged for something a little more mainstream, with still staying far away from the suit concept: grey slacks, black leather loafers, a white button-down under a black cartigan. Her jacket jars slightly, but there was less she could do to replace the black leather; her hair is pulled back in a matching leather scrunchy. Cassandra, at her side, sports more the college look, only making minimal concessions to a change in clothes. "And you must be Ms. Turner. Thank you for meeting us today."

Long distance to Ashley: Andrea activates Persuasion. Is the Gauntlet here more than 7, or should I be seeing spirits around? :)

You paged Ashley with 'And when you confirm yourself Ms. Turner, Cass will sniff you, I imagine. :)'.

Ashley gestures them to come into the living room, a comfortable sort of room that has apparently had a decorator move very subtly through it. "Yes, I am she. It is my pleasure to meet with you - I try and fund already established shelters, when they exist. I was somewhat surprised to find there was none here, since there is a health clinic already extant." The woman frowns faintly, and then adds, "Do please sit down. Would you like anything to drink?" Ashley pages: There are spirits around, yes. And she smells as human, presuming you mean Scent of True Form and not Truth of Gaia.

You paged Ashley with 'Yup. Anything notable about the spirits, or typical surburbian stuff?'.

Scott shakes his head, his smile warming faintly as he moves to settle in a seat. He offers in a soft, quiet voice that none the less has the tendency to draw attention,"Thank you, Ms. Turner. We appreciate your hospitality." He pauses, and then adds,"Nothing for me, but thank you none the less."

Ashley pages: Basically typical suburban. Bit fewer weaver spirits than usual, maybe.

Cassandra shakes her head, taking in a deep breath of air. Afterwords, she glances at Andrea, then away. Andrea, on the other hand, says, "Some water would be nice, thank you. Actually, if you could point me to your restroom?"

"Oh, no, that's quite simple to fix. Water, I am able to cook. Eggs, it gets harder." She disappears for a moment, and reappers with water, and a small glass of fruit juice.

Ashley adds, before she leaves, "Restroom is down the hall to the left."

Andrea excuses herself briefly, following the directions.

Long distance to Ashley: Andrea keeps her eyes and ears open on the way. :)

Scott takes a deep breath, lets it out slowly. After a moment he ventures,"So, what are the ... conditions on which you decide to fund a project, Ms. Turner?" The young man's smile dampens any ill effects the direct words might have.

Ashley pages: Well, there's a cook who's also observing you from the kitchen, knife raised over some carrots, but otherwise nothing alarming. There's a library off to the right. Very nice bound books. Normal feeling sort of place.

You paged Ashley with 'Nothing pinging on my theurge Spider sense then? Drat. :) (Sense the Unnatural)'.

Long distance to Ashley: Andrea smiles at the cook briefly, and checks out the drawers in the bathroom out of idle curious stranger standards. She does actually use the bathroom and wash her face too; long drive. :)

Ashley pages: Nope. Ashley pages: (And there's a Time on the floor, and extra soap in the drawers. Plus a rubber duckie.) Ashley raises a faint eyebrow. "What are the particulars of the project?" is her return question.

Scott lets out along breath, glancing vaguely in the direction that Andrea went before looking to Cassandra briefly. "Essentially, it's a place where battered or abused women can go to find safety and security for a time. To allow them to help themselves, build their own confidence and if needs be protect them from any ... unwanted attention from their abusers."

The faint sound of water running in pipes sounds, mostly insulated in this well-to-do home. Then Andrea comes back into the room, her face freshly washed. As she steps into the room, she glances up into the right corner of the room. Her eyes briefly fix on something, then wander away--perhaps she thought she saw a spot on the wall. She smiles and takes her glass, nodding as she catches the end of what Scott says.

Nodding, the woman takes out a notebook. "Standard, yes. Do you have funding of any sort yet, or is this a preliminary investigation?"

Scott glances to Andrea to see if she wishs to field that question before he answers.

Andrea sips her water, then answers. "The project was started because of a sizable donation from a source that wished to stay anonymous. We have enough money to begin the initial funding already, and the legal process to set up our Board of Directors is in the works. We're starting to approach other, potential donors now." She gestures toward Scott. "Scott told me of your work at the university."

Ashley taps her pen on the pad. "Yes. I presume you mean the archeological endeavors? That was part of a larger grant to the University. Archeology, and fine arts exhibitions, actually." She looks speculatively at the young man, and asks, "I dislike maneuvering around subjects like this. How much do you need, do you think? This sort of cause was one of the first I began funding, when I reached majority, and it's one close to my heart. I therefore see very little reason for strings attaching themselves to the project."

Scott blushs faintly and ducks his eyes before raising them again in the direction of the older woman. "It seems I have something else to thank you for if you've been funding the fine arts program at SCCU." As for the matter of numbers and figures, the Silver Fang stays quiet.

Andrea doesn't seem too troubled by the change in topic sensitivity. She smiles faintly, then says, "I have some training in both engineering and accounting, but I'm not qualified to make any sort of final estimate on cost. We will take whatever people can give; several of us are involved on the university campus, and are raising money and interest at that level as well." Andrea makes another gesture at Scott, but doesn't stop this time. "If you'd like to give as an idea of what committment you'd be amenable to, we would, of course, keep you updated on the financial status of the project to the extent you would like."

The woman frowns briefly again. "I will have to consult my accountant on Monday, Ms. Wyatt, but I believe," she says, naming a rather exorbitant figure, "Would be along the lines of what I am considering."

Scott's eyes widen faintly, but he stays quiet.

Andrea raises both eyebrows and lets her smile widen. "If so, that will considerable help the shelter along, Ms. Turner. Thank you." She sips her water again, then asks, "You mentioned that your donation to the university was targetted for several different departments? I'm just curious if you specified which your donation was spent on, or if it was a general donation to the university." Andrea chuckles again. "Our project is much more narrow in scope, but if you have any particular wishes on how the money is spent, we would be willing to listen."

Ashley shakes her head. "I have found, in such projects, that the people involved can do a much more efficient job if I am not hovering over their shoulders. And as to the University - and several other recent projects in the area - Yes, they were targeted specifically, but only because, as you say, they have a larger scope than your project." She frowns down at her pad, and asks, "Did you mention what the name of this establishment would be?"

Scott frowns faintly, but again remains quiet in deference to Andrea.

Andrea shakes her head. "That hasn't been decided yet."

Ashley says, "Ah. Do tell me when it's been decided. Names can make or break a project, I've found." She smiles faintly, taking a small sip of her juice. "However odd that may seem."

Andrea shakes her head. "Names have power." She takes another sip of water, giving Scott the barest perceptible nod.

Scott smiles faintly, and then takes a deep breath. "I ... had heard you had an interest in archeology, Ms. Turner. Recent events in St. Claire, mainly the dig the university has set up and the things going on around it has sort of sparked a personal interest of mine in that area. I was wondering what your thoughts were on what had been discovered there." There is a faintly eager quality to the young Silver Fang as he speaks, like a student looking for answers from a wise teacher.

"I have found that to be so, although I would not have put it quite that way," the woman admits. Her attention turns to Scott, and she says, "Why... It's simply fascinating. These Native artifacts being uncovered, all at once... We're learning so much about how they lived, what they did, who they worshipped... It's rare, or so I'm told, that there is such a clear footprint of activity in one area."

Scott nods slowly, and then asks hesistantly,"Wasn't there some concern though that you might be disturbing ancestral, sacred lands?"

Ashley purses her lips. "Well. It is my understanding that the investigators made every attempt to be... sensitive to the various issues, yes. But in every endeavor... There will be some who are unhappy with the result."

Scott nods slowly, and then pursues the subject,"So you've had some contact with those that ran the project? Was that one of the ones at SCCU you funded?" Still eager, he seems to be making conversation more than looking for information.

Ashley shakes her head. "I have not had extensive contact with them, no. I am planning to submerge myself in their gathered information once the project is completed - I hate reading a series of books that is only half done, don't you?" She smiles at the Fang, and adds, "But yes, it was one of the projects that is funded under my auspices."

Andrea frowns. "There was some sort of problem with that project, wasn't there? I read about it in the paper."

Ashley's smile turns into a delicate frown. "Yes. Some ruffians stole one of the artifacts. I don't believe it was found, in fact. Extremely unfortunate, and a great loss to history, as well as to the tribes of the area."

From afar, Scott nods. Good question. I'm going to try being bold andopening a mindspeech with her.

Scott pages: Unless you think that is a very, very bad idea?

Andrea shakes her head. "No, this was about someone dying under bizzare circumstances. A security guard? One of my college friends clipped it from the paper and showed it to me." She smiles faintly, again, though with the restraint of someone talking about something unpleasant. "I have some knowledge of occult matters, and the mention of odd writings on the wall where the body was found is what drew his eye. He thought I might be interested."

You paged Scott with 'What does it do if she's a normal?'.

From afar, Scott opens a waking dream with her, she'll probably just think she was daydreaming. At least that's what I'd think. Scott isn't going to appear in it, so tracing it back to him should be hard.

Ashley pages: She doesn't look /exactly/ like Bartholomew or whassername, but she looks remarkably similar, in many ways.

You paged Scott with 'It has good and bad possiblilities. Go whichever way your char would jump. :)'.

From afar, Scott slaps up a doing that's appropriate and goes for it. ;)

Ashley frowns. "Really," she says, tone surprised. And unhappy. "I apparently missed that while out of town. One would *think* my clipping service would have noted it. I shall have to look into this."

Scott pages: Nah, if her dreams are warded she might be warded from our sensing ability as well. Scott flickers a significant glance towards Andrea as he seems to shake himself out of a small reverie before turning his attention back towards Ms. Turner. Scott pages: Nope. Closed off like a brick wall. In fact, Scott willopen a quick mindlink to tell you that.

Ashley shakes her head, slightly, and frowns. "You were saying, Mr. Van Traelin?"

Andrea shakes her head. "I'm afraid I can't remember exactly when I saw the article. More than a couple of weeks ago. The investigation may be over by now, and I could have missed coverage of that." Her eyes drift over to the doorway, then back to Scott to meet his eyes briefly. She then looks back at Ashley.

Pack> Andrea sends a curse through the pack link.

Scott takes a deep breath, and then says,"I was just voicing my concerns about disturbing sacred lands. I have a few friends that are active in the Native American rights movement, and I thought that perhaps if you were helping fund the project perhaps you could ask those involved to proceed with more caution."

Pack> Patrick says "Hmmm?"
Pack> Andrea says "I'm not picking up anything here, and Scott just let me know Miss Ashley is as sealed to Mindspeech as a tight drum. Cassandra didn't get anything with her scent, either."
Pack> Patrick says "Damn. She's /something/, then."
Pack> Andrea seems frustrated, "But none of the gifts show anything. How am I supposed to figure something out without simply murdering her in her den?"
Pack> Patrick says "If she weren't anything, then Mindspeech would work. She's blocking somehow, and presumably blocking it all. Um ... backtrack? Does she look like the other?"
Pack> Andrea says "Yes. Not exactly, but a lot."

Ashley says, "Ah. Well, I am of course sensitive to Native concerns, but we cleared the way with the authorities, and, in fact, many Native groups before we started. One can be too sensitive, at times." She nods to Andrea. "I shall... inform my clipping service that they are lacking in important specifics."

Pack> Patrick says "Hrm. Double hrm. Possible, still, in that case, for her to be something odd. We can maybe check paper trails, then."

Scott nods faintly, and offers a smile again.

Andrea changes the subject, then, to something less unpleasant. "Do you follow the Olympics, Ms. Turner...do you mind if I call you Ashley?"

Ashley says, sincerely, "No, I'm afraid I don't have the time. Well," she amends, smiling, "Except for the women's hockey team. They rather captured my attention. And certainly," she says, her smile becoming wider, "Call me Ashley. If I may call you Andrea."

Scott remains quiet and subdued as the two other women talk.

Andrea nods with a slight smile. She continues to make light talk, meeting Scott's eyes with a slightly questioning look once.

Scott pages: I'm trying to get any even vague clue but everything so far is coming up as a blank. I dislike this sort of thing. Whre it seems there is one solution that will get you your answers. Right now I'm walking her through daydreams of the supernatural and then the fetish and then I'm calling it a night.

From afar, Scott tries to find something to pin her down one way or another as mortal or no.

Scott nods faintly to Andrea, and then blinks a little, murmuring apologetically,"I didn't get near enough sleep last night." Scott pages: Nothing firm. ;}

Andrea frowns. "Then maybe we should be getting back." She looks back to Ashley. "You'll give us a call on Monday? You can leave a message with whoever answers the phone at my number; I'll get it when I come in."

Scott nods again, apparently thinking that's a good idea.

Ashley says, nodding, "Indeed I shall. My accountant tends to respond quickly, so it will probably be somewhat early in the day." She rises, and says, "It was quite pleasant speaking with you; I wish you luck in your venture."

Scott pages: The best I got was more agression concerning the artifacts than would be normal, more fascination regardingt he murders, and then horror and fear of the supernatural. Human dupe, maybe? Scott nods and thanks Ms. Turner for her time before standing to follow Andrea out.

Andrea smiles. "Thank you." Cassandra, who has been in one of her almost-sullen silent moods, also says her goodbyes and the three Garou depart.
