Elan scans the streets, looking for someone, obviously. "I dunno." He
looks to Dani. "Just sort stay back and quiet, for now, OK?"
Her long coat open despite the cold evening, Sally steps out of the
donut shop and heads north. A small paper bag in one hand and a
covered cup in the other, she smiles to herself as she strides along.
Dani salutes Elan with two fingers. "Right-o, suh."
Seirian tugs her hood forward a bit more, obscuring her face a bit more.
Hellcat lounges near one of the block corners, a skinny little redhead
in her late teens. She has muddy green eyes and a knife scar on her
right cheekbone inexpertly hidden by makeup. Her only concession to
the cold is a ripped black leather jacket and black fishnet tights.
She doesn't seem to mind the cold too much, though, moving her legs to
flash a stretch of thigh from under the mini as one of the black gang
members moves by. "Hey sugar, you want a date?" The young man pushes
her away as he walks by. "Fag," she calls after him, and laughs. The
sound is brittle. She sees Elan and his crowd walking up in the other
direction. The hooker flashes the Gnawer an insincere smile, but
doesn't call out to him.
Elan nods to Dani as he stops a couple of people, asking them quick
questions, then is on his way again. He doesn't seem to be
rubber-necking at all, but his eyes flick from side to side, and up to
look at fire-escapes and rooftops, just t be sure. "Well, that didn't
pan out either. Nobody seems to have seen her at all. Just a couple of
cold leads." He looks over at the hooker, and smiles a bit. "Ah,
Bingo. Just the girl I need." He flashes a smile to Hellcat, and
begins to walk her direction, brushing past a couple of the spurned
ganbangers. "Heya, cat. Need to talk wit'cha, que?"
Seirian glances at the hooker measuringly from under her hood-shadowed
eyes, keeping her face to a tired, dirty mask.
Dani wrinkles her nose at the whore, but just as quickly looks away,
with some disdain. She watches passersby with interest, but is
obviously keeping an ear to the conversation with Elan.
Hellcat shrugs her skinny shoulders.
Shifting the bag to between her middle and ring finger, Sally peels back
the tab on her coffee cup. She sips the steaming brew as she walks,
glancing towards the small group as she lowers the cup. Her smile
grows as she recognizes faces, and she alters her course towards them.
Casper looks over and grins to Sally, giving a small wave.
You say "Depends how long you want. Joe ain't going to be happy if I
lose business because I'm gabbing." She looks over the group
distrustfully, especially Dani. "What's with the fan club? Some of
these look a little la-da-da for downtown."
Dani greets Sally with a soft, "Yo, sistah. S'up?" She doesn't seem, for
once, interested in an answer though, as she folds her arms over her
chest and surveys the area, still keeping an ear tuned to the
conversation between the hooker and Elan.
Seirian just hunches her shoulders a bit more under scrutiny, seeming
apathetic in how she looks at things.
"Hey," Sally grins at Casper in return to his wave, then she smiles and
nods to Dani. "N'much," she checks out Hellcat as she answers.
Elan glances back to the others, then to the hooker. "Hey, babe,
followers, you know? Shit, can't go nowhere, without picking up
people." he moves in closer, leaning against the grimy brick with one
hand. "Miss uptown wanna-be wants t' slum," he says quietly, "I get a
fifty, y'see? Think I might get her in some deep shit, later, see what
she do." He scratches his own stubble and lays on the charm. "Meet and
greet, huh? What's da shit on Miss Honey, chika? Ain't seen her 'round
The Dig, or any her other casa's, que?"
Hellcat's eyes flick to the group again, especially Dani. Sally also
gets a once-over, the prostitute's plucked eyebrows raising. She drops
her voice, too. "Shit, boy, and here I get into deep shit for free.
Wanna share and share alike?"
Dani nods absently at Sally's answer, seemingly watching a couple pass
by on the other side of the street. If she sees Hellcat look at her,
she doesn't show it. She pushes her shades up her nose a little
farther, and switches most her weight to her right leg.
Casper hangs back, looking around casually, not wanting to interrupt.
Elan flashes a smile to the redhead and locks eyes with her. "Sharing is
next to caring, ain't you read those posters they slap up all over the
bus terminal?" He chuckles. "I can pass down some of that fifty, you
got some lead on her. Your man say she split, big time. Ain't seen her
over on Bellview, where she talked about taking that corner, so...I
figure she maybe laying low?" This last is said in a low voice, that
only the two of them could hear. Quietly, Elan nods his head for Boo
to get to one side, Seiri on the other, to sheild them from any eyes
or ears that might get too curious.
After her once-over of Hellcat, Sally glances up and down the street;
she doesn't even try to hide her expression of bored restlessness.
Raising her cup for another quick sip, she slips the small paper bag
into her coat's pocket.
Casper glides over to Elan's left side, staring out guardedly.
Seirian ambles over to the right of the pair, watching the area from
under her hood.
Dani just hangs where she is, a small sigh escaping her mouth revealing
her restlessness almost equals Sally's.
Hellcat licks her painted lips. "Man, she's gone and gone fast. You know
Poison? New chick, sharing our crib. Poison's hooked in through the
bag and back. She'll pop anything, she thinks it'll light up her
brain. She was getting Honey on that shit until I kicked her ass
around some. Then three nights later, Honey just didn't come home. I
mean, didn't pick up her clothes or nothing, which is why I think
Joe's smoking rock. She wouldn't gone no place without her stuff." She
gives a short sigh, pushing her hairspray-stiff hair back. "Joe was
pissed, too. Poison mouthed off to him, and he beat the fuck out of
her. He still thinks Poison sold her off to some pimp that offers
candy with the rent."
Elan nods, frowning a bit. "I know you and Honey was tight. I heard
rumors, 'bout this new Poison chika, too. You know where she's getting
her shit? She just tumble people that give her candy, or she got some
other line she wants?"
Tap, tap, tap. Sally's fingers move quick against the side of her thigh
as the talking (interesting topic, sure, but just talking nonetheless)
continues. Her head turns as she catches sight of a tall, long haired
guy walking along the sidewalk across the street, and she turns away
from Elan and the teen as she checks him out.
Hellcat's eyes flick back and forth. "Man, don't tell Joe, but I think
she's skimming. Yeah, both. She takes what people give her, and then
when no one's handing it out and the monkey starts screaming...I think
she goes to one of Waterside's guys. Someone she knew when she was a
strawberry." The redhead shakes her head. "Man, she's some bad shit. I
can't believe I got stuck with her instead of Honeychilde."
Dani finally gives in to boredom and pulls a Spawn comic book out of the
back pocket of her overalls. Turning so that she isn't in the way of
the light from the streetlamp, she starts flipping through the pages,
moving her lips, but making no sound.
Elan nods at Hellcat's words, interested. "You think maybe she talked
with Joe, to get set up with you two?"
Seirian crosses her arms over her chest, listening both around and
behind her as she looks around.
The blonde kinswoman's back is to the group, her eyebrows raised and a
slight smile on her face as she checks out a guy walking across the
street.
Hellcat shakes her head. "Joe wouldn't have given her any choice, once
he took her in." The hooker is matter-of-fact about this fact of life.
"I'll tell you for true, Elan, I figured Honey was gonna turn up in
the river, or in an eight cubic yard casket. Sucks, her being just a
kid. But she ain't, and she ain't come home, and she ain't in jail.
It's like she just disappeared."
Jennifer trots in, silky tail waving. She stops when she sees the crowd.
Joey has her hands jammed in her pockets, walking down from the
McDonalds a good clip up the road. She moves to the curb, expression
sharpening as she sees the mob on the sidewalk. Then Sally turns her
head to watch the boy walk, and the mulato recognizes her. A grin
flickers over Joey's face, and she stays on this side of the road,
walking casually toward Sally.
Dani is distracted easily from her comic as she spies the dog from the
corner of her eyes. She leans over a bit, snapping her fingers at
Jennifer, and smiling.
Elan glances to the others around him, then back to Hellcat. "Yeah.
People disappear alla time here, but...somebody always finds 'em, in
the end. I wanna find her. Don't put the word or nuthin'...hell, you
know th' drill. I just wanna find her. Bring her back, if she's still
'round here."
Jennifer flicks her ears. A large gathering, Shadow Eyes. This one would
know if they are family.
A thread of steam rising from Sally's coffee cup and into the night, the
kinswoman is distracted enough by the long haired guy's butt that Joey
gets quite close before Sally notices she's being walked towards.
"Hey," she smiles as she turns Joey's way. "How's it going?"
Hellcat barely gives Jennifer a glance until she comes right up. The
hooker backs up half a step, then kicks the Glass Walker with her
sharp-toed boot. "Ugh, stupid mutt. Get the fuck out of here. God, I
hate dogs."
Dani frowns at Jennifer, turning to look at Elan with a puzzled
expression. Slowly, as slow as the sun dawning, realization lights her
expression, and she makes a small 'hmph' noise. She mutters something
very softly at the 'dog'.
Elan's eyes flash hot gold for a second. "I don't," he growls, letting
some of his anger show. "I'll look for Honey. You come find me, tell
me you hear anything, got it?"
Jennifer tries to dodge, but isn't quite quick enough. She yelps a bit,
and then turns towards the hooker. Her fangs are bared, and ears
flattened as she snarls viciously. Rage pours off of her body in
almost tangible waves, and her eyes are balls of green flame.
Seirian turns slightly at the hooker's words, just in time to catch the
kick. She bites her tongue on any sharp words and murmurs softly.
"S'nae worth it..."
Hellcat takes a couple of involuntary steps back from the Garou, her
hand going in her jacket pocket as she tenses.
Dani crouches near to Jennifer. "Hey, chill, sistah." She addresses the
lupus formed Walker. "Y'hungry?" She holds out a piece of beef jerky,
and winks at Jennifer.
Elan just gives a calm shake of his head to Hellcat, then nods to the
dog. "No. Bad. Go to the girl." He snaps his fingers once, then turns
back to Hellcat. "Where could I get a look at this Poison chika."
Sally MacKay also turns towards the teehage hooker at her comment on
dogs, but the blonde's expression is one of amusement more than
anything else. Until she notes the 'dog's' reaction. "Damn," she
mutters, her lips twitching down into a frown. A few more words are
grumbled, but probably too low to be made out.
"Fine," Joey answers Sally. She seems like she'd say more, but the
snarling dog gets her attention. Her eyes widen slightly, and her lips
part. She pushes a hand uder her jacket, adjusting something, then she
lets her hand drop to her midriff.
Jennifer's ears are still flattened, but the snarl has died away to a
very low growl. Reluctantly, and slowly she moves away from the
hooker, still watching her.
Though the source of Sally's reaction is the same as Joey's, Sally's
expression is totally different than the Get kin's. She looks angry,
almost pissed. She turns from the group and tugs her coat tight around
herself, muttering another couple of words.
Hellcat is still staring at the dog. She mutters something about
'shooting,' then answers Elan. She doesn't take her eyes off the dog.
"Back at my crib. Even the devs wouldn't pick her up until she heals
somemore. You going to give me my cut?"
Dani leans forward to give Jennifer a quick scritch, if she can. "Dat's
a good girl, White Bread. Where yuh been? We was missing you..." She
grins at the dog, seemingly pleased with herself.
Joey relaxes, seeming almost disappointed. She then jerks her chin
toward the group and asks Sally, "Friends?"
Seirian subsides back into her apathetic facade, glancing to Dani and
Jennifer a moment before looking back to Hellcat and Elan.
Sally keeps her voice low as she answers Joey. Shrugging and nodding at
the same time, "Some, yeah."
Elan nods and slips a grimy twenty and a ten to the girl, so no-one can
see. "You got that, and more, you come up with the info." He comes
away from the wall where he's been leaning. "You still crash at the
same place?"
Dani tugs lightly on Jennifer's ruff fur. "Heya, girl. C'mere dis way
liddle bit. Got something for yuh..."
Jennifer allows herself to be tugged away, but she still watches Hellcat
from burning eyes.
Hellcat tucks the money in the opposite pocket with her loose hand,
though after a minute or two she relaxes the other hand out of the
jacket. The money and the dog's change of attention seems to have
relaxed her again, to a degree. "Yeah, same old roach motel." The
redhead then takes the time to look around the group again, her eyes
settling on Joey briefly. The hooker frowns, hunching her shoulders,
then looks away from Joey.
Joey go from the sister with the dog through the gamut, all the way to
the redheaded hooker. "I knew you had interesting taste," she laughs
quietly to Sally.
Dani leads Jen away from the group a little ways, and settles next to
her by the curb. She puts her arms about the dog's neck, and pulls her
close, seemingly with all affection due to a straying pet.
Elan nods to Hellcat. "Gotcha. Might be paying a visit then, t'night.
You know if sista there carry a gun?"
Hellcat looks back at Elan abruptly, a frown still creasing her
forehead. "What? Oh, maybe. If she ain't hocked it."
Sally nods, her smile becoming wry. "You have no idea," she answers
cryptically, then lets her gaze wander up and down the street again.
Elan nods, flashing a smile, more like his genial self now. "Cool.
Gotcha."
Jennifer momentarily flattens her ears. This one knows. This one is
having a lousy night. She is lucky this one did not throat her where
she stood.
Joey mmmnns thoughtfully, her eyes going once more to Elan and Hellcat.
She then asks, "Hey, when's your next night off?"
Dani continues fussing over Jennifer, murmuring quiet things.
Sally MacKay hmms as she looks back to Joey. "Uh, Tuesday, I think. But
I can always switch if needed." Eyebrows raised, she smiles to the
other kinswoman, "Why? Party coming up?"
Mark comes in from the north, heading south at a brisk walk.
Joey says "Yeah, my roomate's gotten word of a block party, near the
university. Thought you might be interested." She glances around. "I
wanted to ask you something anyway, but not with such a crowd.
Business proposition."
Hellcat takes a step back from Elan, further away from Jennifer. She
smiles insincerely at Mark as he comes toward the clump of people.
"Hey sugar, you want a date?"
Sally's eyes light up with her smile. "Party? /Always/ interested, just
let me know when." She nods to herself, looking much like the news has
just made her night. Her voice drops a bit as she continues, "If you
don't see me hanging out anywhere, you can always catch me down at the
pool hall."
Elan chuckles a bit as he moves back, nodding to Jennifer-the-dog, and
Dani. "Come on, guys." He turns, and sees Sally for the first time.
"Heya, Mustang."
Mark hears Elan and Sally and crosses the street to move towards teh
group.
Dani gives Jennifer one last pat and rises to her feet. She moves back
to Elan's side, looking self-satisfied, and smiling appropriately.
Joey turns toward the hail, flashing her gold-toothed smile at Elan.
"Sally, who's the pretty boy?"
Elan chuckles a bit, hearing this.
Dani's smile drops away to a glower, aimed at Joey.
Sally MacKay glances back at the Gnawer. "Hey there, you. Got a new
girlfriend, I see," she teases, nodding at the hooker. Quieter to
Joey, "His name's Elan. He's usually around."
Hellcat snorts as Mark moves to the clump of folks rather than
responding. "You joes are bad for business," she grumbles, then moves
to the opposite corner. Her boots clack on the sidewalk.
Jennifer gives Hellcat a parting snarl, and pads over to Elan. This has
been a bad night for this one's temper.
Joey looks at Dani with smug self-satisfaction. "Down, girl. If you want
to bite because I say your meat's pretty, you must be afraid some
other dog's going to carry it off."
Mark gives Hellcat only the most cursory of glances before heading over
to Elan. "Evening."
