Who is this Amy person anyway?

Well, I'm not going to go into long and painful discussion about my third dog dying in the street when I was ten, so no worries. Just a couple of notes to let you, my gentle reader, know who I am and why I'm cluttering up the bandwidth.

Born in Memphis, TN, I spent the first 19 years of my life without living more than two weeks outside that state. Upon going to college at UT Knoxville and joining the co-op program, I began to spend every other semester in Aiken, SC, while working at Westinghouse SRS. I also had a brief stint working for a structural firm in Glasgow, Scotland (which is a wonderful place, if industrialized). During college I was engaged for about two years to John Nunn, the person that really introduced me to computers and that worst of addictions, MUSHing, or interactive fiction.

A year or so before graduation in Spring '96, I got involved with my now-husband Jorge Diaz. I took a job in Atlanta with OHM Remediation, to follow one of my two specialization interests in Civil Engineering. Unfortunately, my position left me in accounting with apparently poor prospects to get back into what I went to school for. I returned to school, this time in transportation engineering, at Georgia Tech. Right before graduation, Jorge and I got married, as you can see in the picture album. I graduated not long after we were married and went to work at URS Corporation, though when I was hired was actually briefly before my company's purchase, and we went through several name changes before I left in early 2001. I now work at DWA and enjoy it very much, though it seems I'm always, always busy. Still, I've been told I live on stress. I must enjoy it; I haven't left yet!
