Mortals
Dryan
The Wizard of Corinth
Flagh'tare
Trollish scout and messenger for Hrrag-Lishaak .
Vala
A Half-Elven Priestess of Death. To judge from the treatment she received when we paid our respects to the Council of Death, she is well-respected among their number. Only Cynlas seemed to be held in as obviously high regard. Vala's personal philosophy of Death is what I would refer to as 'positively oriented' - death is a part of the natural order, the ending that is necessary for all things, and the undead are perversion of that order. She shares that philosophy with Melitta, but as it was Vala who sent us to Melitta's aid, it is unsurprising that they are of a similar mind on this.
Cynlas
An Elven Priest of Death, Cynlas seemed to perhaps be the eldest member of the Council of Death. He appeared to act as a sort of historian and record-keeper for the rest of the Council. I was left wondering exactly how old he is. I know that elves are long-lived, of course, but when he answered questions about the distant past - the time of the arrival of the Outsider Gods - there was some ambiguiuty in the way he phrased his answers as to whether he was speaking from the records or personal memories. The latter seems unlikely, as it goes far beyond the lifespan even of an elf, but there are certainly magical ways of extending one's life, even without recourse to undeath. That in turn raises an interesting thought...would it be impious for a Priest of Death to employ magic to delay old age?
Hygothric
Frederick's teacher in the Church of Death, Hygothric was a dwarf in life, and doubtless a Priest of Earth before he ascended to the service of Death. It shows in small, subtle ways...like his decision to become a ghost, remaining tied to this realm for three thousand years while he waited in a lead-lined closet for the eventual arrival of a student and the cleansing of his temple.
Pyrokantha
A fey priestess of Life, from a race of fey who (if I have gathered comments correctly) act as guardians. Pyrokantha was a Priestess of Fire before she became a Priestess of Life, and she must have been an active one. I think few priests of Life would wear dragon-hide armor. She may be small, but one would underestimate her at your peril. The city is difficult for her, I think, and at odds with her fey nature, but I'm grateful that she's willing to tolerate it to help us here. Not only with the vampire problem, which unsurprisingly draws her attention, but also simply in showing people another aspect of the Six.
Dragons
Arazoth: Great Black
A black Great Wyrm, Life-aspected, who dwells in
the lake in the foothills north of Corinth. She is served by a colony of Kobolds, who number at least one Water priest among their elders (Kalkrix), as well as an able scout (Kendrya). Together with Mandulay, she rules the watery demiplane we once visited.
Mandulay: Great Bronze
A bronze Wyrm, Death-aspected. Very powerful; it appears that she and Arazoth together may have created a small plane.
Ildiberth: Brass (deceased)
A Brass who turned his back on Fire to follow Vecna, and wished to become a dracolich.
Varansulmor: Bronze Wyrmling
A descendant of Manduley.
Krysantal: Gold
Host to Amber in the vision of the Forsaking.
Rostendak: Brass
Host to Frederick in the vision of the Forsaking.
Theydresilma: Copper
Host to Rose in the vision of the Forsaking.
Zilak: Copper
Host to Clauve in the vision of the Forsaking.
Maxoron: Silver
Host to Geoffrey in the vision of the Forsaking.
Keveronik: Silver
Host to Timothy in the vision of the Forsaking.
Kerandon: Half-Silver
The High Priest of Air; he is half silver dragon and half elf.
Camilynilssia: Half-Gold (deceased)
Half-elven and half gold dragon - the previous High Priestess of Fire, defeated by Hrrag-Lishaak.
Hrrag-Lishaak : Half-Red
Half troll and half red dragon, he
is the current was the High Priest of Fire.
Alternate claimants to the position are largely lacking, likely in part because he has taken
steps to eliminate him. Though Hrrag-Lishaak is not popular with Kerandon or Maluv-or,
neither seems likely to countenance his removal without a replacement ready to assume his
position. Most of our interactinos with Hrrag-Lishaak have been centered on his desire for
the Lance of Drangonsbane, an ancient weapon with whose retrieval he tasked Amber and
Frederick. Now that the item's delivery is complete (peacefully, despite the lance's attempts
to force Amber to attack her High Priest and the hopes of some, Maluv-or included, that she
would do just that), we may hope that it might be some time before we hear from him again.
That hope now appears assured; Hrrag-Lishaak is dead. Someone (we
presume Maluv-or) told him where to find Bert, with the predictable result that he
attacked Bert, with the perhaps-predictable result that Bert left him a slowly-regenerating
pile of meat on the ground somewhere. Someone (we presume Maluv-or...) then seems to have
moved the not-yet-healed High Priest of Fire to the Plane of Negative Energy, where even
his vitality would have been quickly sapped. We await the arrival of his replacement.
It remains to be seen who REALLY killed Hrrag-Lishaak, whether the fight between him and Bert
was truly arranged by Maluv-or...and what has become of the Lance of Dragon's Bane.
Aurelia : Half-Gold
High Priestess of Fire. I'm not sure yet what I think of Aurelia...not, I suppose, that she's likely to care. It's still very much an open question just how Hrrag-Leshak came to be killed. Did she have advice from Maluv-or? The letter she sent Osser, telling him the High Priest was coming but not informing him that the holder of that office had changed, certainly indicates...something. A sense of humor, perhaps. Perhaps she holds more to the emotional side of Fire than the physically destructive side. Frederick's experience with her certainly suggests that she's open to passion and impulse.
Maluv-or : Half-Blue
Half hobgoblin and half blue dragon, he is the High Priest of Earth. He was the author of the plan that ultimately led to the
destruction of the soul-crystal in the ancient temple of the Forest Maiden
and the release of the possessed clerics.
Glorin-ulsor : Half-Bronze
The High Priest of Water; half-selkie and half bronze dragon. Kerandon says that Glorin-ulsor is very reclusive.
Celestials
Cille In-Belene: Solar
We first made Cille In-Belene's acquaintance in the aftermath of our visit to Tangramayne Keep. When we freed the celestial who was imprisoned there, it was she who arrived after to purge the keep of the remaining fiends and undead, and to thank us for what we had done. Her thanks came in the form of a blessing for each of us, strengthening us in different ways, but the blessing came with something of a price - she has on several occasions now summoned us into battle, as we might a lesser celestial creature. The battles were universally far beyond our ability in scope, but like summoned creatures, we returned to our point of origin when 'slain'. Though not permanently damaging in any way, the experience of those 'deaths' was far from pleasant.
The battles we have been called into by Cille, despite the discomfort involved, have been very special to me. However small our contributions might have been in them, being able to make any contribution at all, and being called to do so, is...inspiring. With everything that has happened to us, and as many well-intentioned people as distrust us for our ties to the elemental powers, it's comforting to know that we are so literally on 'the side of the angels'. And if we're able to tilt the balance even a little in their battles against the fiends and their allies, that may in the end have more of an impact for our people here than anything else we could do.
Though it would be arrogant to claim any role in it, it is evident that Cille's efforts, at least, have been noteworthy. When we first met her, she was a Planetar - a celestial of high order, but not the highest. When most recently she came to us, however, she had taken on the aspect of a Solar, the highest class of angel of which I'm aware. She has spoken of the possibility of achieving even more, if she is successful in the efforts she is leading against Gru'umsh, the one-eyed 'god' of the orcs.
Silentas: Deva
Silentas is a deva, and I get the impression he has been with Cille for a long time as one of her advisors and seconds. His particular specialty seems to be arcane lore, cosmology, magical theory and the like. Cille herself certainly knows things about those subjects, but as a matter of temperament, she seems more focused on doing than knowing. Silentas seems to love understanding the cosmos just for the sake of understanding it - not only as a tool but as a good in and of itself.
Nalacrom: Bralani
Nalacrom is a captain among the Bralani...or at least a champion. Perhaps they don't have anything as formal as a captain. We first met him during the retaking of Fort Ardor, when our path through the battle brought us upon his band in combat with a larger force. Conversation with him since has been interesting. He has a different perspective on life and the war than the Archons do, unsurprisingly, but it's different knowing the differences in philosophy as a matter of theory, and seeing them in practice. He's more forgiving, more willing to look at circumstances. And, need it even be said...less formal. There's much to admire in the archons, also, but seeing the different perspective has been a very good thing.
